PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a case where one of induced convergence conditions is constituted of an identification error, when a correlation reduction signal that cannot be actually observed is sent to an unknown system in an adaptive algorithm, stable convergence of a coefficient of an adaptive filter cannot be guaranteed. SOLUTION: An updating vector of an FIR adaptive filter is created by dividing a numerator vector with a normalized denominator and multiplying it by a step size. The numerator vector is created by multiplying a second vector by an error signal e<SB>j</SB>, and the normalized denominator is an inner product of a first vector and the second vector, the first vector is a reference signal vector xj, and the second vector is obtained, by adding to the reference signal vector x<SB>j</SB>, a correlation reduction signal vector x'<SB>j</SB>resulting from reducing a correlation component from the reference signal vector x<SB>j</SB>.
