An apparatus and a method for setting a bookmark in a video displayer are provided to allow a user to search and reproduce an image easily associated with a previously inputted bookmark keyword. A key input unit(150) receives an instruction related to setting a bookmark keyword and operation from a user. A demultiplexing unit(120) separates a received broadcast signal into video data, voice data and data broadcast information. A bookmark unit(160) controls performing of a time machine function, compares the data broadcast information separated by the demultiplexing unit and the set bookmark keyword, and marks at a particular portion desired by the user so that the corresponding position can be stored. A storage unit(170) stores the bookmark keyword set through the key input unit and a corresponding broadcast signal in which the particular position desired by the user has been marked through the bookmark unit.
