A dog opening apparatus for a chain stopper using a gear is provided to readily open a dog by generating a high torque using a worm gear. A dog opening apparatus for a chain stopper using a gear includes a gear unit, a splined shaft(P), and a shaft through hole(S3a). The gear unit is mounted on exterior and rotates to move up and down at one side of a dog(S3) for opening and closing the dog. The splined shaft is mounted on the gear unit, includes grooves on a surface thereof, and is inserted in the shaft through hole. The shaft through hole is formed on a part of the dog and includes grooves to be coupled to the grooves on the splined shaft.
