A digital broadcast system and a data processing method are provided to perform error correction coding and error detection coding on enhanced data and transmit the same to make the enhance data strong and strongly cope with a fast channel change. A group formatter(114) collects a plurality of enhanced data packets having information to form a data group. A packet formatter(116) generates an identification signal instructing insertion of a field synchronization in a data frame into a pre-set position of at least one enhanced data packet in the data group, and displays it. A packet multiplexer(121) multiplexes the enhanced data packet and a main data packet in the data group to form a data frame. A frame multiplexer(128) inserts field synchronization into the data frame based on the enhanced data packet with the identification signal marked thereon.
