[Also in Division C5] Flue gases from a furnace (not shown) used for heating catalyst packed tubes for the continuous catalytic steam reforming of light petroleum hydrocarbons, enter duct 12, then pass over the vertical tubes 1 of a waste heat boiler. They then pass over secondary and primary horizontal tube heaters 2, 3, respectively, for the hydrocarbon reactants, and then a superheater 4 for the process steam. The gases then exit through combustion air heater 14. Adjustable baffles 19 to 23 allow some of the flue gases to by-pass the boiler tubes and other heating surfaces. A vent stack 24 and air vent doors 25 for use in abnormal conditions are also provided.</p> |
