摘要 A method for manufacturing a secondary battery having improved safety is provided to prevent an internal short caused by direct contact between an electrode tab and an electrode assembly upon dropping of a battery. A method for manufacturing a secondary battery having improved safety and comprising a stacked or stacked/folded electrode assembly, wherein each electrode tab of each electrode plate is connected to one electrode lead and the electrode tab is coated with an insulating material and is connected to the electrode lead via ultrasonic welding while allowing electric conductivity, comprises a step of applying electrode slurry containing an active material onto a metal sheet(500), and cutting the coated metal sheet to provide a plate-like electrode. The metal sheet has a width corresponding to at least two times of the length of the electrode (i.e., the height of the electrode plate and the height of the electrode tab) and a length corresponding to at least two times of the width of the electrode plate. The electrode slurry is continuously patterned and applied onto the metal sheet except the portions corresponding to the electrode tabs so that at least two electrodes are obtained while their longitudinal directions and width directions are adjacent to each other. The remaining portion(520) non-coated with the electrode slurry is coated with an insulating material, and then the coated metal sheet is cut into the shape of an electrode.
