[PROBLEMS] To provide a process for producing a catalyst for cyanhydrin hydration which is composed mainly of manganese oxide, excelling in not only physical strength but also reaction activity, and provide a catalyst for cyanhydrin hydration produced by the process. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] There is provided a process for producing a catalyst for cyanhydrin hydration composed mainly of manganese oxide and containing potassium and at least one element selected from the group consisting of bismuth, vanadium and tin, characterized in that compounds of these elements are mixed together in a water system, subsequently any formed slurry deposit is isolated by solid-liquid separation and thereafter the thus obtained hydrous cake is dried by at least two separate stages of predrying and main drying. Further, there is provided a catalyst for cyanhydrin hydration produced by the process.
