#CMT# #/CMT# The navigation device (1) comprises a digital computer, a receiver for position determination information, one at least exchangeable memory containing map data, a route determination program for calculation of a route to be set out from the actual position information and a target position, and an input/output component (2) for exchange of position data and/or instructions with a user. The whole is couplable with a navigation hand set (3). A touch screen serves as input/output component. #CMT# : #/CMT# The navigation device and the navigation hand set are equipped with synchronization equipment, which when they are reciprocally coupled match the actual position information of the navigation hand set to that of the navigation unit. The releasable hand set has a display (4) for showing the actual position information and operating devices (5) for calling up route instructions. The operating devices are capable of call-up of a previous and/or following route instruction and/or the reversal of the route instruction sequence. The releasable navigation hand set has a compass unit (6).
