The device has a chamber (1) made of titanium and defining a volume; an optical sensor (5) which controls the liquid level in the chamber; and a hook (8) for mounting the tissue sample to force transducers (9). The contraction or relaxation of the tissue sample is measured by a signal from the force transducers. The chamber has an inlet (3) and outlet (4) whereby a perfusion liquid, including the drug, may enter and leave the chamber. The perfusion liquid transports drug to the biological tissue sample in the chamber. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an optical liquid level sensor for measuring a distance to a surface to be measured; and (2) a method for measuring the effect of a drug on at least one tissue sample. |
