METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING PAGING INFORMATION IN OFDM BASED CELLULAR COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS SUPPORTING SCALABLE BANDWIDTH

A method and an apparatus for transceiving paging information in a wireless communication system are provided to receive the receiving complexity of a UE and reduce the overhead of paging information transmission of a BS(Base Station) when the UE with the smaller bandwidth than system bandwidth receives paging information in an idle mode in the cellular wireless communication system supporting scalable bandwidth. A method for transceiving paging information comprises the following steps of: notifying UE(User Equipment)(218) of a frequency band(200,202) to transmit a paging message(214) through system information; transmitting paging indicator information through the frequency band to transmit the paging message and frequency bands except the frequency band to transmit the paging message(210,212); and transmitting the paging message through the frequency band to transmit the paging message. Frequency bandwidth to transmit the paging message and the frequency bandwidth except the frequency bandwidth to transmit the paging message are identical with the minimum receiving bandwidth of the UE.
