A refrigerator compartment vertically adjustable shelves is provided to control height of the shelves, and to prevent separation of the shelves from an adapter by including a new type of the adapter having first and second members. A refrigerator compartment vertically adjustable shelves comprises a unit for forming vertical slideways(41), a shelf(15), a latching unit of the slideways, a latching unit of the shelf and a rib. The shelf is slides along the slideways. The slideways include a plurality of vertically spaced latching units. The latching unit of the slideways is selectively latched to the latching unit of the shelf. The shelf includes a unit sliding-moved and connected to the slideways in a near position so as to reduce a side surface movement of the shelf. The unit for reducing the side surface movement of the shelf includes one rib or more connected to the slideways.
