PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of carrying out data communication via a digital line without awaiting the end of a speech when the digital line is enabled during the speech using an analog line. SOLUTION: The remote monitoring system for housing facilities includes: a remote monitoring center 3 for the housing facilities such as an elevator and a bathroom installed in a house 1; a telephone set 5 attached to the housing facilities 2; and a line control apparatus 6 arranged in the house 1, a digital communication discrimination means 8 discriminates whether or not the housing facilities 2 and the remote monitoring center 3 can be communicated with each other through the digital line 7, when the communication by the digital line 7 is not available, an analog line control section 9 switchingly transmits data showing an operating state of the housing facilities 2 and voice uttered by a user of the telephone set 5 to the remote monitoring center 3, and when the communication is available through the digital line 7, a digital line control section 10 transmits the data to the remote monitoring center 3 through the digital line 7.
