PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit for a liquid crystal display device which can attain stable operation of the liquid crystal display device with low electric power consumption. SOLUTION: The drive unit comprises a polarity inversion section for generating a polarity inversion signal of a liquid crystal driving voltage, a liquid crystal driver for driving a liquid crystal display panel by inverting the polarity of the liquid crystal driving voltage according to the polarity inversion signal, a warning signal generation section for generating a warning signal indicating the polarity inversion prior to the polarity inversion of the liquid crystal driving voltage, and a regulator section for adjusting the supply of the liquid crystal driving voltage to the liquid crystal driver according to the warning signal.
