PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel assay chip, capable of accurately and efficiently carrying out an assay such as an immune assay or the like which uses a selective bonding substance, by preventing an object component to be measured from being adsorbed to a carrier and to a reaction chamber; and to provide an assay method that uses it. SOLUTION: The assay chip is equipped with a liquid flow inlet, a liquid flow outlet and the reaction chamber. The carrier, having the selective bonding substance which is immobilized on the surface of the carrier and selectively bonds to an object component to be measured in a sample solution introduced from the liquid flow inlet, is housed in the reaction chamber. At least the inner surface portion in the reaction chamber that contacts the liquid is coated with a hydrophilic polymer, and at least a part of the surface portion of the carrier is constituted of the hydrophilic polymer.
