<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily generate a document where a desired character string is masked. <P>SOLUTION: A document editing device 100 is provided with a character string selection part 203, a masking part 204 and a document display part 206. The character string selection part 203 selects a character string as an object of masking by a drag operation for an arbitrary character string in a document displayed on a screen. The masking part 204 masks the character string selected by the character string selection part 203.
