PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a semiconductor element for charging/discharging control against abnormal overheating, without providing a dedicated semiconductor component or temperature measuring element, and to reduce the size of a battery pack with respect to a secondary battery protection device for protecting a secondary battery against abnormal overheating. SOLUTION: A battery protecting integrated circuit 1 is provided therein with a discharge FET Q1, a charge FET Q2, and abnormality detecting circuits for a secondary battery 2. Furthermore, it is provided therein with a temperature sensor 16 for detecting the temperatures of the discharge FET Q1 and the charge FET Q2 and an overheat detection circuit 15. The discharge FET Q1 and the charge FET Q2 are controlled, according to the detected temperatures of the abnormality detection circuits and the overheat detection circuit 15.
