PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical transmission module in which transmission characteristics of high frequency signal are enhanced. SOLUTION: In the optical transmission module 1A, microchip capacitors 4a and 4b are mounted in a stem section 5, a surface emission semiconductor laser element 2 is mounted on the upper surface of the microchip capacitor 4a, and a photodiode 3 for monitor is mounted on the upper surface of the microchip capacitor 4b. In the microchip capacitor 4a, an electrode on the upper surface becomes an element mounting land 6 for mounting the surface emission semiconductor laser element 2. Cathode terminal 2b of the surface emission semiconductor laser element 2 is connected with the element mounting land 6 and the surface emission semiconductor laser element 2 is connected directly with the microchip capacitor 4a not through a bonding wire.
