PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply a screen erasure processing, which can satisfy both of secrecy and convenience, to electronic paper. SOLUTION: A power management block 1316 detects a voltage drop of a battery 1319 supplying electric power to a paper display 3. Then when the power management block 1316 detects a voltage drop, a central processing controller 139 determines whether the contents of a property holding section of image data are secret information. When it is determined that the contents are secret information, the central processing controller 139 erases an afterimage displayed on the paper display 3, but when it is determined that the contents are not secret information, the afterimage displayed on the paper display 3 is held.
