<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emitting source having uniform field electron emitting characteristics and high durability. <P>SOLUTION: This electron emitting source is a field electron emitter comprising iron oxide whiskers, and has a structure in which an iron based substrate is oxidized in an oxidizing atmosphere to directly grow the iron oxide whiskers on the substrate. The iron oxide whisker has a diameter of 5 nm to 2μm, a length of 1μm to 1 mm, and an aspect ratio of 5-100,000, and is widely applicable to an electrode for a FED or for illumination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
