PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the I/O performance of a computer by using the same physical disk between different logical volumes. SOLUTION: A volume management server 1010 groups a logical volume using the same physical disk of storage devices 1020 as a volume group, and assigns storage regions on a physical disk to be preferentially used by the volume group to the volume group. Thus, it is possible to perform physical arrangement based on the physical arrangement of the current logical volume in automatically expanding the logical volume, and to prevent the deterioration of the I/O performance of a computer due to mutual interference when computers 1030 access the storage devices 1020.
