PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of diagnosing or determining a parameter of an installation device for detecting a surface defect on a component by leaching. SOLUTION: In this method: a standard test piece is passed through the installation device; the test piece has a surface having at least one pattern for expressing a type of the inspected defect; an infiltration composition containing an indicator substance is applied on a surface of the test piece; the test piece is washed and dried; a composition containing an expression agent is applied on the surface of the test piece; one or respective patterns of expression images are formed; and the surface of the test piece is irradiated to irradiate the optional residual indicator substance, so as to estimate an indication as to the quality of an operation for the installation device. The standard test piece is subjected to a preparatory treatment for carrying out immersion into a vessel containing an emulsifier, the first rinse under pressurization, drying, an application of the expression agent in the position of the pattern, and the second rinse under pressurization, before being passed through the installation device.
