PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether a region for a printing process is impossible or improper in a setup stage without actually performing the process.

SOLUTION: A processing data setup device comprises: a processing condition setup section 3C for setting processing conditions with a desired processing pattern; a defective processing region detecting means 80B capable of detecting, within an operation region scannable by a laser beam, a defecyive processing region which is unworkable with the processing conditions set by the setting section 3C or which is liable to develop defective processing, on the basis of the shape of an object to be processed and/or the irradiation conditions of the laser beam; a highlighting means 80I for highlighting the defective processing region detected by the detecting means for the purpose of displaying in a mode different from a machineable region; and a display section capable of displaying the defective processing region detected by the detecting means, in a highlighted state by the highlighting means, at least on the operation region of the object to be processed.
