PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash lamp in which a flash tube composed of alumina (Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>) is used in which blackened melt of a surface inside the flash tube is surely suppressed, and of which useful life is sufficiently long. SOLUTION: The flash lamp 10 is equipped with a pair of electrodes 12 composed of tungsten in the flash tube 11 composed of alumina (Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>), and the summation of hydrogen concentration contained in the electrodes and an arc space is 2.5×10<SP>-4</SP>(pa m<SP>3</SP>/tube) or less.
