PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for effectively using a stairs space by arranging a common corridor and an elevator without hindering the passing of residents when performing step height eliminating work in an existing stairs room type apartment house. SOLUTION: A common corridor building is constituted of and constructed by the common corridor, the elevator and stairs adjacently to an existing apartment house. A common passage is extended to one side half of the uppermost floor stairs of an existing building from a corridor of the uppermost floor of the newly built common corridor building. A passing passage of the residents is secured, and afterwards, just under stairs are removed to similarly transfer to work of the lower floor.
