<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the second sheet of paper from being wrapped around a fixing roller when a paper size and a paper conveyance direction set by a user are different from a paper size actually set in the paper feed section of an image forming apparatus and the conveyance direction of the paper. <P>SOLUTION: A paper size and a conveyance direction set by a user are stored. Also, when paper is fed, a paper feed roller 90 is temporarily stopped immediately after the paper is fed by half the length of paper in the paper conveyance direction set by the user. Thereafter, the paper feed roller 90 is rotated again. When absence of paper is not detected by a paper detection sensor 10s during the conveyance of paper, the paper feed roller 90 is rotated until or immediately before the trailing end of paper passes through the paper feed roller 90.
