PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for simulating formation of an optical element, by which a universal optical surface shape can be calculated without necessitating actual measurement work even when the structure of a forming machine and the forming conditions are changed. SOLUTION: An analysis model 1 having a glass material 7 interposed between a couple of molds 11, 21 arranged oppositely, a calculating section 3 for calculating the deviation amount between the optical surface shape of an optical element before annealing process, calculated in consideration of the volume relaxation property of the glass material 7 and the optical surface shape of a previously set optical element, when formation is simulated for the analysis model 1, and a display section 5 for displaying the deviation amount calculated by the calculating section 3 are included.
