PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting device and a mounting structure for a fence, which have a mechanism absorbing the positional displacement due to installation error when the fence is installed on a wall surface, and less displace the mounted fence. SOLUTION: This supporting device P for the fence 1 comprises: a projecting member 2 projecting from the wall surface W at predetermined intervals; and retaining members 3 fitted to the ends of the projecting members 2. The supporting device is used to install the fence 1 on the wall surface W. A receiving surface 4 and a retaining surface 5 facing each other are formed on each of the projecting members 2 and the retaining members 3. When the fence 1 is held by the receiving surface 4 and the retaining surface 5 while it is brought into contact with receiving surface 4 starting at one end to the other end, a wire material 11 is hard to be slid in the longitudinal direction and the positional displacement is hard to occur. Even if the supporting device P is mounted on the wall surface W displacedly from the initial mounting position due to the installation error, it can be held if the wire material 11 is positioned between the receiving surface 4 and the retaining surface 5.
