BURNT SILK AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burnt silk maintaining good feeling such as elegance, flexibility and the like which the raw material silk inherently has and a method for producing the same.

SOLUTION: The burnt silk is obtained by burning a cloth-like silk material under reduced pressure atmosphere. The burnt silk has -100 to 300% ratio of the rate of change of flexible stiffness (gfxcm2) before and after the burning ([the flexible stiffness after the burning -flexible stiffness before the burning]/the flexible stiffness before the burning x100). The burnt silk is preferably used as a gas diffusion layer for fuel cells.
