Heading A5T. {Also in Division F2] Diaphragm valve for breathing apparatus comprises a diaphragm valve member 1 of flexible deformable material, e.g. silicone rubber in the form of a cup bellows having a flat bottom 7 with a conical sealing lip 8 on the outside for cooperation with a seat 9. The diameter of contact with the seat is substantially equal to the effective diameter of the bellows, which has a fastening collar 3 at the upper end. The valve controls exhalation from a mask, connected at 12, to atmosphere at 13, and is subject to a regulator pressure in a chamber 14. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the regulator pressure is supplied through an internal pipe (16) passing through the diaphragm. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) the respiratory gas is supplied through a hose (23) and goes through the diaphragm past a resilient check valve (18) which seats on a lip (22). In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown) the diaphragm operates a separate supply valve (39) through a linkage (29, 34). In further breathing apparatus, Fig. 5 oxygen is supplied through one inlet 46 and a valve 43 controlling communication between the inlet and a duct 49 connected to the mask. Air enters the duct 49 at 11. Valve 43 is controlled by pressure in a chamber 42 connected to the inlet 46 through a flow limiting element 45 and through a conduit 41 to a seat which opens into the chamber above the diaphragm 1. This seat is obturated by a central part 28 of the diaphragm.</p>
