PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical parking apparatus enabling entering/outgoing work of a vehicle without requiring complicated operation of a user. SOLUTION: The mechanical parking apparatus has a pallet driving motor 61 for moving a plurality of pallets, a gate driving motor 63 for moving a gate, a card reading part 25 for reading the related information from an IC card 91 in which information of a pallet number is preliminarily stored, and a general control part 37 for controlling these. The general control part 37 controls the pallet driving motor 61 to move a pallet having a corresponding number to a position for entering/outgoing based on information read in the card reading part 25 and then controls a gate driving means to move the gate to an opening position. The general control part 37 controls the pallet driving motor 61 and the gate driving motor 63 to prevent the movement of the pallets and the gate when the movement of the gate to an opening position is completed.
