PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic molybdenum complex, to provide a process for forming the organic molybdenum complex, to provide a lubricating oil composition composed of the organic molybdenum complex, and to provide an improved lubricating oil additive. SOLUTION: This organic molybdenum complex comprises a reaction product of (a) a hydroxy aromatic compound which is optionally substituted, (b) an aldehyde source, (c) an N-hydroxyethly-substituted diamine, and (d) molybdenum source.
