PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal machining center having rigidity enough to thoroughly withstand machining reaction force even in the case where a spindle for machining a workpiece is horizontally projected from the body part. SOLUTION: The horizontal machining center 1 taking three axes: X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis orthogonal to one another as a control axis is a quill type horizontal machining center, which includes: a spindle 2, a body part 4 and a linear guide composed of a guide rail 27 for Z-axis feed and a guide block 33 for Z-axis, wherein in machining a workpiece, the spindle 2 is projected from the body part 4 in the direction of the Z-axis.
