GROUNDED ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FOR CIRCUIT BOARDS

A grounded electrical connector is provided with a dielectric body having an upper mating face and a lower board mounting face. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the body and have contact portions exposed at the upper mating face for engaging appropriate terminals of a mainting connector. Terminating portions of the terminals are exposed at the lower board mounting face of the body for connection to appropriate circuits pads on the circuit board. A grounding element has a plurality of grounding fingers exposed at the upper mating face of the dielectric body for engaging an appropriate ground member of the mating connector and at least one tail portion at the lower board mounting face for connection to an appropriate ground pad on the circuit board.
