SPINAL DISC NUCLEUS PROSTHESIS FOR PERCUTANEOUS IMPLANTATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elongate spinal disc nucleus prosthesis for implantation deep into a nucleus cavity in a human intradiscal space.

SOLUTION: The spinal disc nucleus prosthesis 20 is implanted into the nucleus cavity of the spinal disc defined by a pair of vertebrae forming end plates facing to each other. The spinal disc is equipped with a substantially inelastic constraining jacket 24 having a maximum volume smaller than the volume of the nucleus cavity, and an amorphous polymer core which is the amorphous polymer core 22 flowed into the constraining jacket so as to become a smaller volume than the maximum volume of the constraining jacket and is configured to generate an internal pressure in the constraining jacket by expanding to the maximum volume of the constraining jacket.
