PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately adjust the position of a needle location point in sewing. SOLUTION: A fabric C is fed in a feeding direction Y by a sewing machine motor 18, while being guided by the guide part 17c of a presser foot 17. A sewing needle 14 swings in a needle swing direction by a needle swing motor 19. The needle is located onto the edge part C1 of the fabric C so as to perform overedge stitching in a sewing machine 100. The sewing machine includes a needle location point position adjusting means (e.g., CPU 31) for adjusting the position of the needle location point, where the needle is located at the side of the free end part C2 in the edge part C1 from an end part needle location point P1, by defining the needle location point P1 where the needle is located at a position most separated from the free end part C2 of the edge part C1 as reference among the needle location points of the sewing needle 14 where the needle is located to the edge part C1 in overedge stitching.
