摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device which can be used for a liquid crystal display device of a large screen even with thin thickness by forming a light source on the side face of a transparent plate used in a normal downright backlight device and by preventing formation of a dark spot causing a problem to the normal downright backlight device, and by improving uniformity of the whole light. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight device comprises a reflecting plate, a plurality of first LED light sources arranged in bar-shape on the reflecting plate so as to emit light to the side direction, a plurality of light shielding plate arranged respectively on the upper part of the first light source, a transparent plate which is arranged on the upper part of the light shielding plate and in which a scattered pattern is formed at the lower part corresponding to the light shielding plate, and a second LED light source which is arranged in bar-shape on the side face of the transparent plate so as to emit light into the transparent plate. This backlight device can be used for a large screen liquid crystal display device even with the thin thickness by forming the second LED light source on the side face of the transparent plate, by preventing formation of the dark spot causing a problem to the normal downright backlight device, and by improving uniformity of the whole light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
