PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technique for pretreating a filler, capable of keeping a yield of the filler on a wire at a high level and scarcely causing deterioration in an effect of improving opacity and whiteness of paper due to compounding the paper of the filler, to provide a papermaking method using the pretreated filler, and to provide paper containing the pretreated filler. SOLUTION: This paper is produced by preliminarily mixing the filler with a cationic polymer compound which contains a homopolymer of diallyldimethylammonium chloride or a copolymer of the diallyldimethylammonium chloride and (meth)acrylamide as a component, so as to pretreat the filler, then adding the pretreated filler to paper stock, and subjecting the stock to papermaking.
