PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing in high productivity thermoadhesive conjugate fiber low in heat shrinkage, capable of obtaining textile structure including nonwoven fabric with good texture and dimensional stability seldom causing its deformation attributable to decline in adhesive strength even if used in a high-temperature atmosphere. SOLUTION: The method for producing the sheath/core-type thermoadhesive conjugate fiber being≤3% in dry heat shrinkage at 130°C comprises the following process: the corresponding undrawn fiber is drawn, then heat-treated with steam followed by further heat treatment with a heating drum 4; and the resulting drawn fiber is subjected to further heat treatment with steam just before crimping and then crimped. In the sheath/core-type conjugate fiber, the sheath component comprises a copolyester composed of a terephthalic acid component, isophthalic acid component, ethylene glycol component and 1,4-butanediol component, and the core component comprises a polyalkylene terephthalate-based polyester with a melting point of≥220°C.
