PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stabilized freeze-dried article containing either prostaglandin E1 optionally containing a cyclodextrin or a PG E1-cyclodextrin clathrate compound. SOLUTION: A freeze-dried article which is a pharmaceutical preparation containing either prostaglandin E1 optionally containing a cyclodextrin or a PG E1-cyclodextrin clathrate compound and which has a water content less than about 1. 5 wt.% and further contains a maltose. It is inhibited from yielding PG E1 decomposition products including not only PG A1 but also decomposition product (I) and/or decomposition product (II).
