<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of an image caused by the excessive temperature rise of a fixing belt, and to prevent the heat of the fixing belt from flowing into peripheral members of the fixing device such as a photoreceptor drum or the like, and to prevent the heat from affecting the peripheral members. <P>SOLUTION: In the fixing device 5 including a fixing roller 510 and the fixing belt 531 for thermally fixing the image on a recording material P at a fixation nip W, partitioning walls 601 to 605 surrounding the fixing belt 531 so as to suppress air from naturally flowing into the vicinity of the fixing belt 531, and a cooling means for cooling the fixing belt 531 in a closed space 600 formed by the partitioning walls 601 to 605, the cooling means is provided with a supply duct 612 for supplying the air by a supply fan 613 to the closed space 600 from a lower part, a cooling fan 611 for sending the air from the supply duct 612 toward the fixing belt 531 and a discharge duct 614 for discharging the air by a discharge fan 615 from the upper part of the closed space 600. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
