PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation supporting device and an operation supporting method capable of suppressing deterioration in image quality due to the joint between images. SOLUTION: In the operation supporting device 1, an image processor 20 applies coordinates conversion to a captured image around an own vehicle for synthesis, and creates a bird's-eye view. Then, the device 1 displays the bird's-eye view on a display unit 40. In this case, the device 1 changes the joint position of images in image synthesis when the bird's-eye view is created to a position different from the previous one. Therefore, the joint does not continuously exist at a fixed position in the bird's-eye view, thus preventing an object from being displayed discontinuously at the joint between the images, preventing the object from continuing to disappear, and hence suppressing the deterioration of the image quality caused by the joint between the images.
