PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage system including a data storage medium and a data interface communicating with the data storage medium for storing the data. SOLUTION: The data interface is constructed to arrange data in a logical data capsule having a specified size, and the size occupied by the data arranged in the logical data capsule may be smaller than the specified size of the logical data capsule. In this data storage system, the logical data capsule is moved as a whole between the data storage medium and the data interface.
