PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, or the like, for examining cancers so as to evaluate the carcinogenicity of a chemical substance accurately as much as possible and also simply. SOLUTION: This method for examining a hepatic tumorous lesion in mammalian animals is provided by comprising (1) a first process of measuring the expression level of≥1 gene having a base sequence registered in the Genbank by any of the registered numbers shown by the following registered number group 1 or their orthologs in specimens, and (2) a second process of comparing the measured values of the gene expression levels of the specimens obtained in the first process with a control value of expression level of the gene and evaluating the presence or absence of the hepatic tumorous lesions or the levels of their generation in the specimens based on their differences.
