PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition excellent in curability and its cured product, and to provide a novel epoxy resin used in the epoxy resin composition and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The epoxy resin composition contains the epoxy resin represented by formula (1) (wherein Ar<SB>1</SB>-Ar<SB>4</SB>are each an aromatic skeleton; R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>4</SB>are each an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a phenyl group, an amino group or a halogen atom; R<SB>5</SB>-R<SB>12</SB>are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a phenyl group; X is a direct bond, an alkylene chain, an oxyalkylene chain, a carbonyl group, an ether bond, a thioether bond, a sulfenyl group or a sulfonyl group; R<SB>13</SB>-R<SB>14</SB>are each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and n<SB>1</SB>-n<SB>4</SB>are each an integer of 0-10 and satisfy the relation: n<SB>1</SB>+n<SB>2</SB>+n<SB>3</SB>+n<SB>4</SB>≥1) and a hardener.
