Disclosed is a secondary battery having a terminal for surface mounting which comprises an electric power generating element and a cell case for housing the electric power generating element. The electric power generating element comprises a cathode, an anode, a separator interposed between the cathode and the anode, and an organic electrolyte solution. The cell case comprises a cathode can electrically connected with the cathode and an anode can electrically connected with the anode, and a gasket interposed between the cathode can and the anode can. The organic electrolyte solution contains an organic solvent wherein a solute is dissolved, and the organic solvent contains sulfolane and 1,2-dimethoxyethane. The sulfolane content and 1,2-dimethoxyethane content respectively account for 80-95 volume% and 5-20 volume% of the total of sulfolane and 1,2-dimethoxyethane. The solute contains LiN(CF<SUB>3</SUB>SO<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>, and the concentration of LiN(CF<SUB>3</SUB>SO<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB> in the organic electrolyte solution is 0.9-1.3 mol/L. |
