PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide chimeric (fusion) proteins containing sequences from complement inhibitor membrane cofactor protein (referred to as MCP hereinbelow) and decay accelerating factor (referred to as DAF hereinbelow). SOLUTION: The chimeric proteins are chimeric proteins containing a protein represented by the following formula: A-R1-B-R2-C (wherein A and C are each a peptide sequence of an amino acid length of 0 to 25 and is capable of binding to glycosaminoglycan; R1includes MCP or DAF, provided that the moiety R2is DAF when R1is MCP and that the moiety R2is MCP when R1is DAF; and B is a peptide of any length including zero and may or may not have biological activity including complement inhibiting activity).
