PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene surface protecting film for an optical product which can prevent the blocking of an article to be fitted from occurring by being temporarily fixed to the surface of a resin film for optical product, a resin sheet or a resin plate and so forth. SOLUTION: This polyethylene surface protecting film for the optical product is acquired by being melt-extruded from a T die, and has at least an adhesive layer and a base material layer. The adhesive layer forms one surface layer of the film, and the base material layer forms the other surface layer. A resin which constitutes the adhesive layer comprises a resin composition of (A) 0 to 30 wt.% of a low density polyethylene of which the swell ratio is 1.45 or higher, and (B) 100 to 70 wt.% of a linear low density polyethylene of which the density is 0.925 g/cm<SP>3</SP>or lower. A resin which constitutes the base material layer comprises a resin composition of (C) 0 to 80 wt.% of a low density polyethylene of which the swell ratio is 1.45 or higher, and (D) 100 to 20 wt.% of a polyethylene of which the density is 0.930 g/cm<SP>3</SP>or higher.
