PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detection apparatus and computer system capable of accurately specifying a cause of the fault in a shorter time than conventional apparatuses. SOLUTION: The computer system 10 has an input-output processing LSI 20 for performing input-output processing, a CPU 61 for performing arithmetic processing, a clock oscillation circuit 67 for generating a clock signal to supply the input-output processing LSI 20 with it, and a reset circuit 68 for generating a reset signal for resetting the whole computer system 10. The input-output processing LSI 20 is provided with: a reset control unit 30 for controlling the reset signal; a state holding part 21 for holding operation state information on specific hardware; an external output terminal 22 for outputting the operation state information to a designated apparatus; an internal logic part 23 for performing specified logic processing inside the input-output processing LSI 20; and an external output terminal 24 for outputting the reset signal to the external apparatus.
