PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffraction optical element which is capable of enhancing productivity in replica molding, permits cost reduction and has a desirable shape satisfying a sufficient optical function. SOLUTION: The molding method of diffraction optical element is characterized in that a material having a surface energy and a molecular density different from those of the liquid photosetting resin before curing is brought into contact with the photosetting resin, a measure of forming an interface is taken and, thereafter, photoirradiation is performed for the interface upon the pressurizing/filling of photosetting resin, with respect to the molding technology in which a photosetting resin is dropped onto a die having an optically desirable and mechanically desirable fine shape and is pressurized and filled by using a flat or curved lens blank, and the diffraction optical element is molded by photo-irradiation.
