PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively separating and purifying high-purity arbutin in good yield from a plant body, utilizable as a method for separating and purifying arbutin in good yield from a plant body, especially utilizable as the method for producing the arbutin in an industrial level. SOLUTION: The high-purity arbutin can be separated and purified in good yield by subjecting an arbutin-extracted liquid of an arbutin-containing plant body to the first treatment for removing polyphenol-containing impurities, and subjecting the resultant liquid to a second treatment for adsorbing, separating and collecting the arbutin. The first treatment for removing the polyphenol-containing impurities, and the second treatment for adsorbing, separating and collecting the arbutin can be carried out by using adsorbents having different pore diameters possessed by the adsorbents, and different hydrophobicities. The adsorbing treatment can be carried out by using two kinds of polystyrene-based synthetic adsorbents having different characteristics and carrying out the successive treatment.
